Environmental Protection Agency History

In the 1970's there was high concern about the environmental pollution problem, thus the Environmental Protection Agency was born. This was developed by both the White House and Congress. Prior to the structuralized progress of the EPA there was no defense against air and land pollution issues so on December 2, 1970, an answer had been found. Those working for the EPA were given the grueling task of educating the public in order to try and repair what environmental damage had already been done by pollutants and carbon emissions.

Who Is the Environmental Protection Agency and What Is There Role?

The EPA, or Environmental Protection Agency, is designed to help our nation through science, education and research in order to conserve and protect the environment and benefit human health. They make sure that regulations are followed as set forth by the Congress for the people and help those who are having trouble to meet those standards.

The EPA also has a grant program where nearly half of their money goes towards programs which are based on environmental efforts, non-profit organizations for the good of the global economy and education. Each step that they take towards educating the public brings them a step further in their mission to protect people and the environment.

Using extensive research and scientists throughout the world, the EPA learns what issues are affecting our environment and what steps need to be taken to repair these problems. Through careful studying and means of deduction, key elements causing certain global issues are viewed and possible solutions are weighed carefully such as water conservation, lessening the impact of energy consumption, recycling and so forth.

They then partner up with agencies, businesses, individuals, organizations and state and local governments in order to ensure that others are helping by doing their part. With the release of the Agency's 2009 - 2014 Strategic Plan Change Document, the public can find ideas that are set forth in order to ahieve a better environment and human health.

What They Do For the World and Is It Enough

By providing publications and education for the general public, they are providing steps for those who are willing to make a difference. These steps can make a difference in our future impact upon the global economy and our environment, ensuring that we will one day live in a better, healthier world. Unfortunately, as much as they EPA works at making the environment cleaner, it is not enough. People, as a whole, need to come together and help make a difference. There is only so much an organization can do if we are not willing to do our part.

We need to find ways to reduce carbon emissions in the air, cut back on deforestation and lessen the impact of littering. These are all part of the going green process. Look into car-pooling or more fuel efficient cars. Research alternatives to burning fossil fuels and cut back on energy consumption in order to lessen carbon emissions in our atmosphere. The dangers of carbon emission lie in the fact that this causes the atmosphere to hold water which increases heat production and causes global warming.

With the proper effort of the EPA and the public, we can greatly decrease the negative environmental effects that we have already made. The damage has been done and it can't be undone but it an be reduced in order to protect our future and make sure we live in a more beneficial life-style, abundant in health and cleanliness.

We must remain constant and do whatever we are capable of by backing the EPA and making sure that we follow suggestions correctly in order to maintain a balanced environment for ourselves and our economy. If we refuse to do what is expected of us, we could be looking at a very bleak future. These suggestions are not only for ourselves but for our children and grandchildren as well. We want to make sure that they are given the best future possible.
