In order to understand anything about global warming causes and effects, one must familiarize themselves with the definition. Global warming is an increase in temperature overtime within our atmosphere through a natural cause known as the greenhouse effect. Many things cause this effect, although the reasons are mainly involved around human interaction.
As the demand for industry, agriculture and transportation grows, the more we spur on global warming effects by way of carbon emissions. This is a problem with which we need to make ourselves aware of and what ways we can change the impact of our lifestyle on the environment. Not only is this better for the atmosphere, it is better for us all. Educating ourselves on global warming causes and global warming effects is the best way to make a difference.

Global Warming Causes

The biggest factor in global warming causes is carbon emissions. This emission is from the burning of natural resources such as fossil fuels. Carbon reacts with the inner layer of our atmosphere causing it to hold more moisture which gradually increases heat output. While carbon emissions are approximately three-fourths the cause of this problem, the remaining issues lies within our impact on the land. Deforestation is a large problem that can be blamed primarily on human beings. Logging companies and the need to chop down forests to make room for agriculture and civilization are two main reasons that forests across the globe are near extinction.

Many of what we use on a daily basis put out carbon dioxide. This includes means of transportation such as vehicles, airplanes and power plants. As more and more people are born each day, the need for transportation increases. Cities have a high output of carbon dioxide due to traffic congestion and the use of power plants.

It is estimated that power plants make up 40% of emissions, vehicles put out 33%, airplanes can be held accountable for 3.5% and buildings produce 12%. As mentioned earlier, water vapor is held within the air because of these emissions. Sure enough, water is the most dominant global greenhouse gas so as more water vapor is contained in our atmosphere, the more heat is put off. Many are unaware of global warming causes.

Global Warming Effects

There are hundreds of global warming effects that we are left with. The impact is more severe than most seem to realize. Wines may one day be nothing more than a memory. Increased temperature means that grapes ripen to quickly and therefore lose their flavor which will leave the wine companies out of production business of fine wines.

Everyone loves french fries but as the heat rises, plants related to potatoes and peanuts are slowly dying off. Soon nuts and potatoes will dye out which will leave those who enjoy those particular foods mourning over their losses. As most homeowners know who take pride in their lawns, warm weather can lead to severe droughts which will cause grass to burn leaving no more than a brown patch where your beautiful green turf used to be.

Many are probably left in shock at this point as they are considering the various effects of global warming. This isn't even the tip of the iceberg. On an even greater scale, warmer weather is releasing pests into our crops and forests that were once held at bay thanks to colder weather. Animal species are dying off, such as the polar bear, due to the fact that as the weather warms and the ice melts. This is a problem for polar bears, thinning of the ice causes them to fall through and drown since they are unable to swim for large periods of time from one floating formation of ice to the next.

The causes and effects of global warming are tremendous and have a gloomy outlook for our future if we do not change the way we are and what we do. We will soon face irreversible outcomes that will impact survival worldwide. There are many dangers to global warming but there is still a chance to lessen the part that we play and enable a better, more secure future for ourselves.
